Can You Ken? VIII

Welcome to another addition of Can You Ken? The exciting game where we Guess. That. Kenning.

Tell us, Eyja, what is today’s kenning?

Why, today’s kenning is

Sea-steed.

Sea-steed.

Thank you Eyja. Now, contestants, put on your thinking helms, gather (or raid) your answers, and tell us, what is a plank-horse?

For those who answered “ship”, you are correct! Because like a steed, you ride a ship, but it’s on the sea!

When I explained this kenning for the first time, back on 10 March 2017, I did a little riff that turned into an entire filk of the song March of the Griffin by His Lordship, Jôsé São Pacian. You can view my version here.

Also, remember that today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. As ye row out t’the fickle depths, remember to set the rudder of yer mouth to converse like those dogs of the sea. And t’take respect fur those who take heed of their souls on this Yom Kipur-rr, the Day of Atonement. This be the year fur the marrying of strange tides.
